About the Experience

We take our wonderful guests on a one of a kind adventure to a desirable snorkeling spot called Turtle Canyon that can only be reached by boat. Turtle Canyon is located on the South Shore of Oahu just off of the coast of beautiful Waikiki.  It is called Turtle Canyon because of its abundance of sea turtles in the area.  The type of sea turtles we will encounter here are called Hawaiian Sea Turtles or Green Sea Turtles. There are also a variety of other sea life within this area such as tropical fish, dolphins, and many more.

The reason why there are so many Hawaiian sea turtles at Turtle Canyon is because it is considered a "turtle cleaning station". This means turtles go there to rest over the reef and get their shells cleaned by fish in the area. Getting their shells cleaned means the fish eat the algae, barnacles, and even parasites off of their shells and flippers.

At any given time anywhere between 2-10 sea turtles can be spotted resting motionless above the reef surrounded by tropical fish at Turtle Canyon. They often come up for air at the surface where we take you to snorkel, allowing for a beautiful up close and personal experience with these majestic creatures. These animals are endangered in Hawai'i . DLNR and NOAA recommend staying 10 feet away from the turtles, and to never harass, feed, chase, ride, handle, injure, or hunt them.

About Turtle Canyon in Waikiki
& Honolulu, Oahu

Turtle Canyon is a magnificently beautiful reef site site just off the coast of Oahu near Waikiki Beach. As a recap of the island and the area, Waikiki is a district in Honolulu, and Honolulu is a city on the island of Oahu.

Located in Waikiki, this site is an absolute dream for snorkeling and scuba diving. Here, you have a breathtaking view of the mountains off the coast the entire time, the water is clear & picturesque, the dive is shallow, and the wildlife absolutely love this spot. You’ll be right up close in the middle of everything! It is a particularly favorite spot for the Hawaiian green sea turtle. Here, the turtles come to be cleaned by the schools of reef fish and to simply rest & lounge around. When you visit, please know you can observe the turtles up close, but please do not touch them. You’ll also see typical the marine reef life, such as various kinds of reef fish, moorish idols, butterfly fish, moray eels, octopus, crabs, hawkfish, and much more. And as you are traveling around the area, you stand a good chance of meeting up with a pod of dolphins or whales.

As far as Honolulu goes, Honolulu is both the the capital of Hawaii and also its most populous city. It is located on the south shore of the island of Oahu, and acts as the major hub of Hawaii for business, trade routes & tourism. The island of Oahu itself accounts for the majority of all of Hawaii’s population, about 1 million of the 1.4 million people. Being world renowned as an idyllic tourist destination, Oahu is also the most visited island in Hawaii, seeing 6 million tourists each year (in comparison to the 9 million total tourists visiting Hawaii’s). And the majority of those people come to explore the sights & adventures of Waikiki & Waikiki Beach.
